Re: Ready For $40 Oil?
It will be interesting to see how long many of the American shale oil businesses can last. OPEC will never cave in on production and give up its share of the market.
Trying to be a better man
Re: Ready For $40 Oil?
American shale producers can just last a bit longer than most of the OPEC countries can last without huge surplus cash flows to buy off their own populations. Though Russia is not part of OPEC , they are in a similar position.Break the chains wrote:It will be interesting to see how long many of the American shale oil businesses can last. Though you guys have 2 different points of view, you agree that something is up other than random market forces.OutWest wrote:American shale producers can just last a bit longer than most of the OPEC countries can last without huge surplus cash flows to buy off their own populations. Interesting. I filled up Sunday in Southern California. Handed the attendant $100, told him I probably wouldnt need so much, but here's a $100. Expected 75 or so, so I handed over five 20's just to be safe. The total was $62!!!
I've been away from the US for a while, so this seemed strangely low to me. I mentioned it to my Mex-Am gf. She asked me what was up with that. I have to keep things brief for her, she suffers from that Brown-Immigrant short-attention span problem (BISASP) that we are all familiar with in Southern Cali. "We are f***ing with the Russians", I told her. "They are giving us backtalk over the Ukraine, so we had our Saudi Arabian toadies pump more oil, to lower the price, until the Russians say uncle. Because the Russians depend on their oil money. But the Russians won't cave. Also it could just be the guys in charge, giving American consumers more money for Christmas, so they will spend and keep the economy from collapsing, for a little while longer."
"Well actually, she's not REALLY my daughter. But she does like to call me Daddy... at certain moments..."
