Why am I singled out in my work place, this Culture?
Why am I singled out in my work place, this Culture?
..for being normal. For talking about normal things. For getting occasionally frustrated.. etc. At work I get a thin fuse at times - the boss is hard to deal with. He's a real pain in the butt. People don't know what they're doing. I have other people telling me what to do - when they're not my boss....
someone will strike up a conversation about politics and then, I'll start contributing and then - suddenly "I'm crazy" because I was saying something about Trump.
Are you not allowed to talk about Illuminati to someone in public conversation? I mean obviously I wouldn't blurt it out, but it was a private conversation between us two. .... Is there some taboo against this? Someone please let me know. I think someone at work told someone else I was "crazy" because I mentioned Illuminati or something in a conversation. It hurt also. ...
My God.
Does anyone else get anxiety attacks, have lots of anxiety? I do... always I have. Especially since moving to this country.
What can you talk about - are there rules? It seems to me it keeps changing and different people have different ones. wth.
You can't talk about anything anymore.
Also I try to be nothing but nice to everyone at work, they don't budge a finger, yet I'm the one that's "always getting upset". It doesn't make any sense.
I hate this country. It sometimes feels, like everyone's attacking me.

Well maybe start with crossing the illuminati off the list of possible conversation topics. Most people aren't ready for that, Eric. It isn't that they can't believe it is possible. It is because they don't want to believe it, because that is too scary. Let them believe what they want.Eric wrote:..for being normal. For talking about normal things. There are probably some things which a person could tell you, which would have you thinking they are crazy. So just make sure you're careful what you say to people at work.
Also, since most people have problems, you should keep all conversations to light topics, especially those which are very common to many people, and which many people can empathize with. It's hard to say, but work isn't really the place to talk life issues anyway. Besides that, ANY opinion which you have, yes any and I do mean ANY, can rub someone the wrong way if they disagree. You should know how people are. So don't give your opinion on topics that are likely to provoke negative emotions, unless you are good at managing a conversation before it goes bad.
Some people can talk about politics at work and be civil. However, there are always a few people who will take things way too seriously and start to hate you, because they identify with a team which they don't belong to (rep vs dem).
But it just sounds like you were attacking the system altogether. Some people need to have their red vs blue team allegiances. People will even hate you on this forum for that same reason (like for example if you thought Trump is a fraud like every other politician).

Re: Why am I singled out in my work place, this Culture?
Okay, I guess because I read a lot about it, I assume that everyone else is too. I guess this is normal...we all do this, right? Even though we know it's not true, but we just can't help ourselves. I guess I get so into myself, my own thoughts, that I just ... I don't know. I don't think talking about this sounds crazy, but that's what I think. I know not everyone thinks that. I guess I like exposing them to trying to help them hear something they're not familiar with. I know it's too scary for them, but I want them to realize that it's truth - or it might be. I realize this is tricky, and I do it lightly. But I honestly thought he was okay with it, obviously I wouldn't have kept going if not.
This is why I'm so offended by what happened - the backstabbing that I felt happened. I feel people here are ridiculous, honestly with - what you can and can't talk about. It's paranoid. I feel like living here, makes you paranoid and anxious. Everyone has ridiculous rules for what's okay and acceptable - and you'll notice that wherever you go to different places, they change. It's never the same. Even if you stay quiet, people have a problem with that too!
And everybodies so controversial nowadays, it's hard to see where the locus of society has gone. ... where is normal conversation and what is not? This is a big part of the reason I want to get out of here into a different society. It's a big part. We need a locus of society to be healthy. ..not this absolute craziness - where everyone argues everything, all the time.
See, I think that too, and it's actually upsetting to think that for me, but I feel it's true. But what do I know?
Thanks

Re: Why am I singled out in my work place, this Culture?
I think I heard it interestingly stated that we all have freedoms; but the freedoms are designated by the state.... so, obviously - everyone over looked this foolish simple fact - that they will have complete control over what your "freedoms" are by their whims and ability(s) to shape public opinion and state law. They are no real freedoms at all, but meaningless things.
Also, personal liberty is a noble concept, but when your personal freedom clashes with that of another, all kinds of chaos ensues.
I think we see it happening, now.
Liberty as a subversive force to oust societies. Interesting.
The only real freedom is given by God and is inherent, otherwise it would be subject to change - making it not a freedom.

Why singled out?
1. jealousy that you have a powerful command on your job description (in other words, you do your job too well)
2. Sour grapes that others aren't as good as you
3. The way you carry yourself
4. sour grapes that you're receiving compliments from customers while coworkers receive none
5. managers/supervisors or others of higher authority are nervous that you may take their job
6. Probably 'cause your multiracial with exotic characteristics
I've dealt with it since I was 5 years old.

Re: Why am I singled out in my work place, this Culture?
If they don't like you, F@ck em. Plain and simple. As for your boss, report him to higher authority. I gave higher authority an ultimatum. It was simple as this: "Do something, or I'll do something! I'm not condoning you do that (make sure you have witnesses on your side if you decide to do that), but that ultimatum does get their attention. The phone usually rings 20 seconds later lol. I've had no problem after that.Eric wrote:..for being normal. For talking about normal things. I agree and my problem. IT'S ALWAYS BEEN my PROBLEM was that I am too nice, and lie down and let people over me. Sounds cliche but who knew that's what I'm dealing with, as well. I lie down and hold back so that others don't/won't feel bad, I obfuscate the issue in my head. I barely realize this it's unconsccious.
I tell myself it's all not happening, none of the people's insults or motives .
And I even have the stupidity of asking the people around me if what I see is accurate. Of course they'll say "No"! It's like asking the thief, did you steal it?
See my problem is that I've also from a young age doubted myself/ perceptions ...and always questioned if what I was feeling was real, of if I trusted my self.
I had some rough inner psychological experiences at a fairly young age, always had to do things perfectly, and then could never get mad...
I want to be liked by Everybody. I can't handle not, being,.
It's really a weakness.

Re: Why am I singled out in my work place, this Culture?
not everyone is going to like you. the sooner you figure that out, the better. I accepted this a long while ago. I don't worry about people not liking me - but no one can accuse me of being an a$$hole. It's not in my nature...neither is being pc. I tell it like it is. Be honest without being guilty or sorry about it. Again, if they like you, GREAT. If they don't, f@ck em. Carl Gallups is a prime example (he's a pastor btw). As someone who can get along with just about anyone, I'm not worried if they don't like me. That's THEIR problem. Acquire that mentality to your arsenal. Be generous, but never let anyone take advantage of you.
ps. don't be afraid of hurting someone's feelings. There are people out there who are offended by the truth. The truth shall set you free saith the lord. If they can't handle honesty, then that's their problem. f**k em. Don't swerve off the road risking your life in spite of a squirrel. I recommend reading 'Ayn Rand "the virtue of selfishness."

Re: Why am I singled out in my work place, this Culture?
Eric you also have to understand that most Americans conduct lives as if their heads are buried in the sand. When they do come up for air, it's to observe the rest of the pack and they are very quick to take on the sheep mentality. Really it's your co-workers that are being myopic. Stay true to yourself. Formulate your own thoughts and have confidence in your own opinion.
I agree that I'd stay clear of controversial topics like the Illuminati as Abama points out. But if you are adamant about discussing this topic, say something like "hey Tony...if you are interested in knowing more about how the world is really run, check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96c2wXcNA7A. Damon Vrabel does a magnificent job of explaining this topic and it's very matter of fact and unbiased.
Back on topic. Don't get frustrated. Most Americans have such a narrow perspective on life, they don't make good judges!!!! Also, as Americans start adapting the PC/Socialistic mentality, anybody that goes counter to their viewpoints gets labeled an outcast. But who cares? Be yourself and don't let them intimidate you. Carry yourself in a worldly, confident manner and it will drive them nuts LOL.

Re: Why am I singled out in my work place, this Culture?
Thank you for this.
It also really bothers me how it seems - white people, or anyone of good stature or shows traditions and reverence and respect to them, but particularly whites who display this - are ruthlessly attacked/ridiculed, told that we are evil, hateful, oppressive (for being nice, making small talk or feeling joy at seeing a child with their mother, ie refusing to sink to the degenerate level of those around you...)
You get made fun of for just being like... yourself! It's crazy. If you don't bend to the socialist/PC stuff, then you are seen as more than outcast - any number of hateful things. These people literally Hate you! They dont' even know why, they just know you're somebody to hate. ...It's truly sickening/incredible this level of brainwash.
It saddens me and makes me sick that this is that way. It always has...but I'm peeling off layers of numbness I put on and, coming back to it. I need courage to do it anyway - to be myself of good culture and standing, wisely - with discernment, but still to do it.
I must say the Bible is an inexplicable help to me with all this.
I've been referring and falling back on it immensely, and it's helped me to reclaim myself and my dignity and integrity.

Re: Why am I singled out in my work place, this Culture?
I feel your pain! I constantly get labeled as an outcast and yes it does hurt. Get this! I used to post quite a bit on Facebook and politically I'm in the conservative/libertarian camp. Some of my very best friends have unfriended me, stopped talking to me because I'm not a liberal. So years of doing things together and building a friendship have come crumbling down because of political views!!!! It's rather silly in my opinion, but to my friends, I might as well have joined the Nazi party. Like you, I'm a very warm hearted good guy but I'm a guy who is entitled to their opinions. Well apparently not! Since I'm counter to their beliefs, I'm the villain.Eric wrote:Thank you for this.

Me? I'd rather grab a beer and have a nice mellow conversation in which we can talk politics. But at the end of the day, if we disagree then ok! I respect their points of view and still value their friendship. Apparently not everybody thinks this way.
Morphing into the Illuminati. I personally think that this horizontal fighting between the Republicans and Democrats IS socially engineered. It's very much by design. The true reason it exists is similar to the magicians slight of hand. It's a diversion tactic. With everybody fighting horizontally, nobody ever bothers to look vertically; by this I mean looking at the top of the pyramid. Once you understand this concept, it gives you power by opting out of the social experiment. Let the lab rats fight and judge you for not being one of them. I know it helps me ease the pain a bit

Re: Why am I singled out in my work place, this Culture?
It does. It really does. It changes the dynamic.. Yeah - I don't know what awaits me in China, but I'm about ready to have left here yesterday. I really can't wait to get out. This place Sucks. I'm missing warm hearted interactions, a community. Culture to be a part of. I can' t do this individual thing anymore. Honestly, it's a nightmare. ...
I'd be ready to assimilate into any working structure of a society that cares about the depth and feeling of it's people, interactions, respect and the finer/ subtler things that make life richer and worth living.
The only thing that carries me through here is my faith. When all else fails - and it frequently does, I fall back to my biblical teachings, and they always carry me through.
