I didn't say she's the girl of my dreams. She is very cute, she looks a lot younger than her age (24) and she definitely looks better in person. She is just as fair skinned as in the pic, no darker.

If it wasn't for the embarrassment that this would register with her mom and our common friends, I would definitely make a move. Whether she will be receptive, that's an entirely different matter.

I have nothing against you, but Kradmelder has some very stupid arguments rooted in white supremacy. Just generalising over all Italians and the way their army performed during WW2, is a telltale sign of his batshit stupid reasoning. That has absolutely nothing to do with my point about where Scots got the notion of themselves as great warriors. It is rooted to a great extent in battles against England. I suppose enough old pensioners were scared into voting stay in 2014, but if you think that there are not a very large number of Scots -- and always have been -- who quite decidedly do not see themselves as part of Great Britain, then you Brits must grow up under the same sort of media propaganda regime that we have here in the States. I would venture to say that there is a strong correlation between those Scots who want to exit GB and those Scots who think of themselves as great warriors -- very nearly one and the same grouping, I'd guess.

I have no brief for American military prowess. The Red Army defeated Nazi Germany, despite our shameless efforts to take credit for it. But anybody who studies the staging for the Normandy invasion will happen upon the fact of an utterly demoralized British army that couldn't even begin to muster up an invasion without American esprit de corps. Granted, that spirit had not been tested to anywhere near the degree of the British military, but there's no way the latter alone could have opened up a western front and helped the Soviets win the war.

Now if you want to talk about the military capacity of the English (or the Welsh or the Irish) then please feel free - but you need to be accurate in your descriptions.

As for the vote for independence, it was heavily rooted on EU membership of an independent Scotland and the adoption of the Euro - when the EU took away assurances of immediate membership or the ability to adopt the Euro, the Scottish independence vote flagged badly, so basically, if you know anything about this and I don't think you do, the pro-independence movement was willing to trade one union for another. If you know anything about the SNP, an independent Scotland within the EU is the only alternative that is workable and that is their final aim. Which is why Scotland and the SNP are at the forefront of dismantling Brexit.

Funny that, because despite the fact that the Americans took the beaches with the least opposition, you were the last to get off them whereas the British and Canadian forces faced the bulk of the German forces in Normandy.

Anyway, we could talk about Iraq, Afghanistan, Beruit 1983, Somalia, Vietnam - this is just in the last 50 years, that and when was it the last time you won a war on your own?

What lame little snark point is it you're trying to score here? I'm aware that Scotland is part of Great Britain. I was aware of it before you told me. I was aware of it when my family lived in Great Britain for three years before you were born.

If you're addressing my original post at all, you seem to be saying that if Cornfed is a Scot, then he must think of himself as a Brit. No, that's not necessarily true. I have only speculation about where he's from -- and I bring the matter up only because he is the only regular poster here who has imparted no biographical detail beyond teaching English in Korea -- and don't know what his attitude is toward what he once called "the motherland." But there is a large subset of Scots who clearly want to be rid of the motherland.
