Everything in America is a Competition
Everything in America is a Competition
Doesn't it seem like everything in the US is a competition? From trying to meet women to going on job interviews to trying to "impress" your friends, it seems as if the United States is one giant competition fest.
It was this way in high school too, you had to try to "impress" a girl and you also had to try and "impress" your friends. You would think that when you graduated from high school that phase of your life would be over but it's not, it continues on for as long as you live!
People in the US seem to always try to "outdo" one another for one reason or another. I think a majority of Americans have big egos and they see other people as "competition" that they need to destroy.
It's sad really, that for a lot of people in America, they are still stuck in their adolescence and haven't outgrown that competitive nature that high school kids have.

Re: Everything in America is a Competition
Much of what you say I agree with, but just not to the same degree.
There is a competitive ethic to America, some of it healthy and some of it toxic.
Healthy Competitiveness:
-Grades and rank in school/university.
-Salaries and promotions.
-Quality of lovers or spouses.
-Relatively free market competitiveness in business world.
Unhealthy Competitiveness:
-Extremely high personal debt to keep up with the Joneses.
-Cliques and group rivalries (gangs, neighborhoods, social class, ethnicity, nationality, etc).
-Mass marketing with causes deception and misleading claims.
-Females trying to be as much like males as possible.
-Gays trying to be honorary females to gain competitive advantage over other males.
-Manginas (men selling their souls to appease women.)
I have not experienced the competitiveness in friendships, only in other interpersonal interactions such as colleagues, acquaintances, strangers, women, etc.

Re: Everything in America is a Competition
when a person is convinced that they are the best of the best (gods), naturally they must be the best of the best at everything. There is no area in life in which they are not the best. If they aren't, or if you insult them, this is a blow to the ego. You thought you were at war before you offended them, but after you've had any kind of success, they will definitely be after you, to destroy you.
Everything must be turned into war (competition) because their egos (their gods who they follow) demand it and they obey. In war there is great glory. It's called conquering and winning. That's why everything must be turned into a competition: so that they can glorify their egos. They are their own gods: idolaters.

That's the deception they want men to fall for; that they have to impress women. Nope. That is playing a role. That is acting. That is serving the woman. That is also sick. In real life, God gives you the woman. That's it. You must only do good. God gave Adam his woman. That's the way it has always worked. A prudent wife is from the Lord. Whoso finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of the LORD.jamesbond wrote:Doesn't it seem like everything in the US is a competition? America is 100% about competition. 95% of the men in America believe that you are in competition with them. This includes your friends too. Competition and Jealousy is what drives American men. Because it has gotten harder to find good jobs and good women, competition has gotten much more intense. Men cannot make friends with other men, because they feel that they are in competition with them.jamesbond wrote:Doesn't it seem like everything in the US is a competition? I've noticed this too, you can't just have friendly interaction with people, because everything's competition. I used to go to a gym, and it was a very upscale Lifetime gym and I had an Iranian friend and even he said he noticed that - "people don't come here to relax, they just push themselves and compete...gyms are supposed to be for relaxing." I notice it when I go out to do everything, from sitting at a bar to walking in shops. I really notice this...perhaps where its unavoidable, is on the road. Just seeing the angry competitive faces of some people in your rearview is enough to send me over and ruin my mood.
I'm speaking honestly. I do feel that you notice it more if you have low self-esteem or confidence; a low view of yourself. So, that's why it's important to build yourself up in every way possible, in your self-esteem and your confidence - and learn to have a high value of yourself, to open up your life and yourself to things. So that you won't notice these things as much anymore. I've noticed that in other countries, this doesn't matter as much...life's not built or necessitated around this, it's more free flowing and easy, natural. But in America, as you know it's all different.

Misery and happiness are only states of mind.

I do think America has gone over board with the ego. I mean, I was always taught that ego was bad and that we were supposed to be selfless - that's not really a good profitable attitude to have anyway I don't think. But seeing some of these people who are all about themselves, it goes into illness.

This is precisely why people hate Christians. THEY LIE PROFUSELY.Adama wrote:A prudent wife is from the Lord. Whoso finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of the LORD.
Your bible actually implores men to be MGTOW:
1 Corinthians 7
8 Now to the unmarried I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I do. 9 But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.
27 Are you pledged to a woman? Do not seek to be released. Are you free from such a commitment? Do not look for a wife. 28 But if you do marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. But those who marry will face many troubles in this life, and I want to spare you this.
So even your bible supports MGTOW and discourages marriage. So when you lie to men and tell them precisely the opposite of what your bible teaches, that makes you the DEMONIC LIAR that you like to accuse others of being. Adama, YOU'VE BEEN EXPOSED!
MGTOW forever as your bible advises!
Re: Everything in America is a Competition
If a man remains unmarried and burns with passion, he may find himself in trouble by resorting to fornication. It's better to marry. You actually skipped over the second verse (verse 9). It depends on whether the man can control himself and how much his passion for sex burns within him. Fornication is not a proper outlet because it is sin. Therefore the only choice is marriage, which is what God intended.Contrarian Expatriate wrote:This is precisely why people hate Christians. Too bad your mouth speaks proud things against me without a cause.

Now if a man were to live sex-free and pornography free, then he could be like Paul. But if a man wants sex, he has to find a woman of his own, and for life, not the short term.
That post reminds me of a thorn going up into the hand of a drunkard.
Re: Everything in America is a Competition
It's exactly the same in the UK. Keeping up with the Jones' and having the best looking partner (applies to both men & women) rank as the highest IMO.
It's a game for suckers and I've seen plenty of people fall by the wayside competing in this manner. Whether it boils down to insecurity or not, I don't know, but it's certainly a major character flaw.
If individuals want to compete they should take up a sport. Managing one's own finances/expenditure should be done at their own pace while refraining from entering into debt unless it's a necessity or for a business venture, and choosing a partner shouldn't be based on what others may think.
