The golden years of internet forums in general ended a decade ago and things like Facebook and Yahoo Answers stole their thunder during the corporate consolidation of the internet. People were all too ready to leave a good thing and the before we noticed the old internet that had been building since the 90s was dead or a ghost town. Netflix and Youtube and others I'm forgetting were also much more fun to use before the 2010s. It's easy to complain but I don't think members here even bothered to advertise this place to certain people looking for an alternative to what was popular in the 2010s, like Reddit, Roosh and manosphere videos and comments on Youtube. It's easy to say there's little left of use for others after you've learned a lot and don't need it anymore but what about young men. Terrible online papers like Zerohedge or Dailybeast and pornsites are still thriving, most married men spend their time online there but wouldn't feel comfortable reading HA.

The moment the forum died, in my opinion, was August 28, 2018. @Winston banned @Publicduende for disagreements about his dating life:

Essentially, Duende, an Italian expat, was one of our finest posters at the time. He was certainty among the most intelligent people we ever had on this site. He was also rather brutal in his assessment of Winston's future dating prospects. Winston asked advice, and he got it. But he didn't like the advice PD gave him, as our Italian friend told Winston that, unless he changed his attitudes in life and dating, he would never find true love or marriage. Winston was personally slighted, because "how can someone claim this as fact, it's not a fact!"

There was a certain vibe on the forum before, back when when people like @Rock were still commenting, @Ghost was still around. When we still had PublicDuende, and several other interesting characters. There was actual intelligent debate from time to time, not just useless racist drivel from bottom of the barrell nobodies... back in those days, you had bankers here. Businessmen. Guys with lived experiences, guys who could land models if they wanted to.

Now that version of HappierAbroad is dead. And it died on August 28, 2018.

I'd say the forum has periodically alternated between being dead and reviving a little bit over the decade I've been here. There was never really a golden era, though some very good posters have come and gone at different times. But if I had to name a date when it became officially stupid and anti-free speech, yeah it would be the date public duende was banned, and I said as much at the time.

As for the pissing contests, I used to get into them occasionally, but it shouldn't take too many of them to realize how utterly pointless and time wasting they are.

No Marcos. You have a bad memory. I explained all this several times.

1. PD was not banned for predicting doom and gloom for my dating life in Europe. It started out that way and then got worse. He kept insulting me and making impossible to know predictions that even the best psychics cannot make. He became full of it. Other stuff escalated too.

2. I gave him many warnings but he wouldn't listen. He finally asked to be banned. Yes he himself ASKED to be banned. It's in his own words in his own posts. I didn't want to ban him. I tried to avoid that. But he gave me no choice. He asked for it, LITERALLY, not figuratively. What was I to do? He also spoke lies too which I made a list of. So he had violations of the rules too.

3. Plus he was super arrogant for claiming to speak for all European women. In every country I go I've always found SOME women that liked me. It was never zero. So him predicting zero was totally pompous and too dumb to be accidental. No one would do that.

4. No Marcos. PD never said that I had to "change my attitude" to get girls in Europe. Show me where he said that. You totally imagined that dude. His claim, which he repeated many times, was that it didn't matter what my attitude was or what I did, none of that mattered to him. He merely said I couldn't get any girls in Europe not even as friends, because of my looks and status and because they are super picky now and only like younger guys. He stated it as a FACT and he claimed that it was a CERTAINTY that no women in Europe would like me, even as a friend. Yes he said that literally. No one in their right mind would say that. Not even God would be pompous enough to say that.

5. I told you guys a thousand times, love and women do not follow linear logic. Some women love you for no reason and cannot explain why. And some handsome men are not loved because women just don't have feelings for them. There's no linear logic to love, emotions and heart. Women do not know why they love or like someone. There's no formula like "good looks + good money = genuine love from women". No such formula or logical equation exists to predict female attraction. Even ugly men find women who love them, if they have that special chemistry or destiny or intangible quality that triggers it. Love is VERY mysterious, not predictable at all. So PD was totally wrong and pompous to the extreme. No question about it. It's a FACT. It had nothing to do with a simple disagreement of opinion. He claimed to know things with certainty that no one could claim. That's a huge character flaw. I explained this already in other threads. Learn to read and remember stuff Marcos.

No one can predict with 100 percent certainty that any particular man will never get any dates at all in any particular country. Not even in the USA or Japan or UK. You can say what you think or that it will be difficult, etc. But you can't state it as a 100 percent fact like 2+2=4. Only a weird nasty asshole would do that. No normal person would do that. Even God could not predict that. No one is perfect. Not even God. And definitely not PD.

That's what actually happened Marcos. Stop wasting my time having to re-explain everything just because you have a shitty memory.

Anyway, I hope PD has learned his lesson. People should grow and change and learn from the error of their ways.

Also, people in this forum have been banned and returned before, like CE for instance. So we can ask PD if he wants to come back and give him a second chance if you guys want. Remember he asked to be banned. Literally. No one should boycott a forum anyway just because one guy was banned. Especially if he asked for it literally.

This forum has its ups and downs. If you guys want to revitalize this forum, then we need to start creating interesting topics that the other members will find useful to them. Only then will they return and participate again for a while. If you guys create some interesting topics, I can send them to my mailing list too, so the former forum members will see them. It's up to you and me and us. Create good content, and it will attract new and former members. Also you guys gotta learn to be more positive too. Positive forums will attract more mainstream people. We are a niche movement anyway so we won't attract mainstream types anyway. However, we can attract more people who are like us, if we are positive and less negative and create better quality content. That will attract better quality posters.

When I joined this forum more than a decade ago, the idea of leaving America to be Happier Abroad was socially heretical, blasphemous, and subversive even. Well, in 2020 the concept of happier abroad is very nearly mainstream. There are many different groups who live the happier abroad lifestyle under different headings:

Passport Brothers
Remote Workers
Digital Nomads
#SYSBM (Save YourSelves Black Men)
Perpetual Travelers
Nomad Capitalists
International Minimalists
Sovereign Men

The entire world now knows and acknowledges that American women are horrible women. The entire world now knows that America is a cultureless cesspool of unhealthy degenerates. So the mission of HA has been accomplished. What is left is a disjointed, motley crew of non-conformists who have no core ideas around which to rally so the guns got turned inward.

If this forum wanted to turn things back around, it should seek to fill in the vacuum created by RooshV's deletion of his famed travel section. Short of that, Happier Abroad will have difficulty finding a new mission that draws in new members because they can go so many other places for practical information and discussion on lifestyles abroad.

I don't agree. All those groups you mentioned are internet niche groups. The media doesn't give this type of movement any coverage at all. Not even the alternative media like Alex Jones or Russia Today or Corbett Report mention this movement. Even the Truth movement doesn't ever discuss going abroad as a solution to the NWO or to America's decline or to the police state or to any problem at all. In fact, every time David Icke or Jordan Maxwell gets asked about going abroad to escape the NWO, they discourage it and say going abroad is useless, because the NWO will follow you in any country you go to. And then they leave it at that.

For a movement to be mainstream, it would have to be covered on the news, or mentioned in magazines, or discussed in TED talks, etc. But we are not. Movements like HA don't even have a Wikipedia page. Any movement that's gone mainstream would at least have a Wikipedia page.

So you see, all indicators suggest that HA type movements are NOT mainstream, and are still an internet niche that receives no media attention or coverage. Not even coverage from alternative media. Hence it's still way ahead of its time and outside the box of even alternative groups.

In fact, no media, whether mainstream or alternative, even mentions that America is socially isolating, or that people don't talk to strangers in America, or that it's hard for guys to get dates in America, or that loneliness is an epidemic in America, or that it's hard to make friends in America, or that it's hard to get a girlfriend in America, or that there's no human connection in America, etc. No one mentions these things. They are taboo. No. All that media talks about are economic problems and lack of jobs and the employment rate. Never any of the subjects we discuss here.

Thus, our movement is not mainstream at all. Not even alternative. Just off the chart and not even considered. And the social and dating issues we discuss here are not even discussed in any media, whether mainstream or alternative, or news website. Instead, they are totally ignored and treated as nonexistent.

How wrong was PublicDuende really after all this time has passed? His prediction was you would not find love, that you would not get married, find The One, etcetera... it's now 2020 and you are pushing fifty and I'm not trying to be overly negative here, but you haven't exactly proven him wrong in the meantime, have you?

You might want to consider unblocking him. It would benefit the forum to have him around, if ever he could be enticed to return. And he's been living in Manila ever since, has gotten engaged to a gorgeous Filipina and has found solid employment / some sort of business venture over there. I for one would love to have him around again, hear some updates on his life and how he's been... you've unbanned people who you kicked out for a lot less, so you might as well let him return, too. Chances are he still wouldn't care to post, but I say it's worth a shot.

As for the whole mess with PD, yes you explained it repeatedly. I was there when the whole thing went down, I read the arguments you had with him and I still believe the block was uncalled for and you should have just disengaged from the debate a lot sooner. You know, the whole "be the bigger man" thing rather than engage someone endlessly to "win" the argument. He had his vision, you had yours, no one was ever going to win over the other person. PAY ATTENTION CLOSELY:

PD NEVER said I couldn't find any romance or love or marriage or "the one". What he said was that:

1. I cannot get any dates or even female friends in Europe. And this is 100 percent fact and certainty.
2. For me to get dates and romance, I have to stay in Philippines, like he's doing, and work on finding quality women through higher quality networks and stay out of bars.

That's what he said. He said that many many times. It's all in the forum archives of his posts. Anyone can see them. They are all documented. Those were his main points. Literally, not figuratively. It's in his words. I am not twisting his words or making strawman arguments by putting him in an easy to knock down position. No. Those were his exact words. You can look it up in his posts.

Now, given that:

1. Europe is much more open and socially inclusive than the US, as we all know, and the people are generally more open, friendly, down to earth and mature, and not afraid to talk to strangers, and not as paranoid. The social atmosphere is also more inclusive and relaxed and non-paranoid, as we all know, and as any HAer who's been there knows. Including you and me Marcos. You've been to Europe and you know your own country of Holland, and so you yourself know this is true.

2. I am a friendly outgoing person with good social skills and conversation skills and not afraid to talk to strangers. I am somewhat charming and a good talker too (many girls have said). I also mesh well with European culture and people and vibe. I am an old soul and down to earth and very open minded, so my soul/personality is much more on the European wavelength of course, which we all know.

3. In fact, anyone can see my 3 hour video on YouTube of me and Robert in Poland, and easily see that in Poland, I met a fair number of people, had fun, interacted with girls, made some friends, etc. And that I was truly IN MY ELEMENT. Thus that video is 100 percent proof of #1 and 2 above. Now of course, most people you meet anywhere is going to turn into an acquaintance or casual friend. But that doesn't mean 100 percent of them are. There are always those who will be closer friends with you, or something between best friend and casual friend. There is no 100 percent of anything like what PD claims.

Therefore based on all 3 facts above, PD's claim is obviously 100,000 percent WRONG and ILLOGICAL. And in fact, the REVERSE of what he said is what is 100 percent certain. We all know that. Including you. So why you defending him?! Care to explain? Why not be honest and real admit that a spade is a spade? Especially if a man like him is 100,000 percent WRONG?! I don't really care about who is right or who is wrong here. I felt when you banned PD, your response at the time was Draconian. You wishing him to go to the deepest depts of hell in your goodbye message to him, was extremely childish and very much over-the-top. I agree with you Marcos. A mature man shouldn't act that way. However, you seem to insinuate that I acted like that out of nowhere or banned him out of nowhere. That's not what happened. It was a conflict and argument that escalated via a slow burn into something hotter and hotter until it got explosive and fiery. We all know that. When something escalates via slow burn into something very hot and fiery and explosive, anything can happen. It's not like it just came out of nowhere, so don't portray it that way. It was a slow escalation. That happens even with mature adults. No one has unlimited tolerance, not even Buddha or Jesus. If I prodded you with a stick over and over again, no matter how patient you were, eventually you'd lose your temper and get very mad and get physical with me. Everyone has a temper that eventually breaks, no matter how mature or patient or wise or good natured you are. Everyone has a dark side too, which can be triggered under certain circumstances.
