My two cents:

1) The girl sounds like a vacuous idiot who, in any sane world, would be a fish out of water at a university with the reputation of UCLA - but this is not a sane world and presumably she's rich and privileged.

2) Some of her stereotyping is stupid (mimicking Chinese language) and some of her argument is completely unnecessary (as if her pontificating about the Japanese tsunami has anything to do with people making noise in the library).

3) Is stereotyping racist? Everyone does indeed do it - does that still make it racist? I dunno - I guess it depends on the intent. If it is meant to be malicious, then I would say yes. If not, probably not. Racism has a strong stigma against it for a reason.

4) People who make too much noise in the library are indeed annoying and Asians in general seem fond of mobile phones - but the Asians I encountered were no more undignified in public than the Australians (actually, they were often more dignified, considering the Australian girls).

5) This girl seems to represent all too many American girls (but would have to confirm this with you guys) and is exactly what we are trying to avoid - vacuous, boorish, intolerant, anti-family, etc. Unfortunately, relatively few criticising her seem to have picked up on this (I mean, outside of this forum).

America has no cultural values it defends anymore, it's a free-for-all for any ethnic minority to do anything the hell they want as long as they are considered an ethnic minority and non-white. While I would not say Asian American women are the worse (that title is for American black girls), I share the same sentiments.

I use to live in California and I have seen some very wild Asian American girls. Many of them disgrace their families due to the fact that they abandon traditional beliefs and take up doing drugs, dating thugs, whoring around, drinking and clubbing all on their parents dime.
