Effects (good & bad) of drugs

Post by odbo »

Not focusing on social norms, cliches, and so on. Do you use any drugs?? Are there positive or negative effects which you want to mention..
Opinions & life experiences are fine, so is documented science (or a journal/newspaper article).

Long-Term Effects of Marijuana

Effects on males:
Decreased masculinity. Use of marijuana results in lowered levels of the male
hormone testosterone. This hormone is essential for the development and
support of male secondary sexual characteristics such as hair growth, voice
tone, and muscle distribution.

Impotency. Male users of marijuana may experience an inability to function
sexually.

Infertility. Moderate to heavy marijuana use, especially among
12 to 17 year-olds, can result in decreased or zero sperm production.

Studies indicate increased production of abnormal sperm among users,
which can result in birth defects in offspring.

Effects on females:
Decreased femininity. Marijuana use by females increase the amount of
testosterone in the body, causing an increase in acne and such male
characteristics as body and facial hair, and flattening of the breast and
buttocks.

Infertility. Use of marijuana may interrupt the menstrual cycle and interfere
with reproductive health and fertility. THC can cause irreversible damage to
the supply of eggs from the ovaries.

THC causes enlargement of the area between nerve cells, resulting in poor transmission of nerve impulses between these cells. This "tampering" has several effects on the nervous system including:
- Impaired speech
- Difficulty in comprehending complex ideas
- Loss of memory
- Difficulty in concentrating or focusing on one subject
- Irregular sleep habits; insomnia
- Mood swings
- Lack of body coordination
- Decrease in muscle strength
- Blurred vision and impaired visual perception

Those studies were conducted mainly by the U.S. government. I see first hand habitual users of marijuana every day and they are functional happy people. I do not partake but I see none of the quote on quote studies proven problems with marijuana. It is far better then big pharma or big alcohol which also have their own studies showing how evil marijuana is. Im not a smoker but I know a smoke screen when I see one. Its only a plant, not the devil...

The truth is most people are perpetual children who can't handle "complex" concepts. They want a world of black and white. They also don't like being told the truth, like the 2 responders above me who are painfully in denial.

I too have friends who smoke regularly. Damaging of the brain and emasculation are undeniable. Beer acts the same way because it is full of estrogen. Beer might be healthy for a person if he's extremely stressed as it could save him from heart disease or another bad fate caused by stress. On the other hand beer will probably kill some of his braincells and make it more likely he's caught in a fag fest with a bunch of football fans and wakes up wondering why his butt is sore. The devil is in the details. I'm not saying I wouldn't use marijuana. But the people who go around telling everyone cannabis is nature's divine gift to us are full of shit. Like everything else it has its positives and negatives. Yes, contrary to popular belief, pot heads ARE morons.

Like I said I don't smoke... I just don't think it is as evil as it has been made to look by the U.S. government, big pharma and big alcohol. Everything in excess is bad for you. I feel to should be an individuals choice what they want to put in there own body. If you choose not to use marijuana fine but why should that choice be made for me.

The government doesn't hate it, that's just the dialectic. Pot heads are much more helpful to the government than they are helpful to themselves or the rest of society. The rumor was George Soros funded the recent proposition in California which wanted to legalize marijuana.

I never said I want to control what people do. But people should have access to information regarding the effects of what they're eating/drinking/smoking. To the tokers out there, all I can say is good luck having kids, and good luck being a man. Because you're gonna need it. If you want feminine women, good luck with that as well.

I agree that pot heads are easier to control but so are alcholics and pill fiends. Im not sure how something can have such an opposite affect on differant genders, making men women and women men. In the male body when estrogen is taken in it jump starts the males production of testosterone. Such as taking clomid at the end of a cycle of steroids. I don't take steroids eather but they are a demonized substance also...

If you consider something that's guaranteed to turn you into a brain-dead zombie safe, then yes it is, but only for some. Others will go completely psychotic. This is why the idea of legalizing cannabis is ridiculous as the hugely increased numbers of people who develop mental disorders will then claim disability allowance indefinitely, costing the government far more than it makes by legalizing it.

I am for the decriminalizing of marijuana not the legalization.

But no one has ever died from smoking pot right?

Here Joe Rogan of Fear Factor explains why pot is illegal, and argues that no one has ever died from smoking pot, thus it is not dangerous.

Have you ever seen a Meth or cocaine user that is an everyday user? I have, marijuana even abused dose not have the negative effect of the above two. Far less destructive in so many ways. I work with the products of substance abuse. Meth, cocaine and heroin destroy lives. Marijuana is non addictive, kills some brain cells, and may slow you down, not any worse then drinking in my book.
