Greetings

Post by MrPeabody »

I am an American who recently moved to the Netherlands. When I get settled in I would like to take side trips to Prague. I am interested in learning how to meet good eastern european women.

Ahoy, Catameran!

Do you sail? Aye, I used to sail in my youth. Jibe ho!

I spent last summer in Prague. Prague is a beautiful city, but I wouldn't recommend it for meeting Czech women unless you speak fantastic Czech. Most Czechs in Prague could care less about another American tourist. Their beer is very good and very cheap, however.

In my opinion, you would have a better chance of meeting Eastern European women in another country. If you're set on the Czech Republic you might want to try some of the smaller cities like Olomouc (I had a very nice and pretty teacher from there).

Travel tip: If you're looking for bottled water in the Czech Republic you want the bottles that say "neperliva" (without carbonation). Otherwise, you might find yourself taking a huge swig of carbonated water that burns your throat during a hot summer day.

Thanks for the realistic response Jackal. But, then I wonder what the point of this site is if meeting foreign women is harder than meeting American women because of the language and cultural barriers. For many of us, happiness means finding a woman abroad. I have only lived in Europe for a month, and would like to see if this actually is better socially than America as claimed.

I didn't mean that meeting European women in general is harder. All I meant was that, in my experience, meeting Czech women in the Czech Republic is pretty difficult. Perhaps you can impress them in some way, but the fact that you are an American is more of a negative than a plus to most of them. Do you speak Russian? If you do, Czech is very similar and you will probably understand a lot. I was surprised to see how friendly some Czechs are to some Russians and other Slavs.

The Czechs in Prague have their own culture and own dialect, and many of them even dislike Czechs from other cities. Most of the food there is lousy. Most waiters and shop keepers there are extremely rude and have little patience with people who speak Czech badly. However, I found that most people on the street were nice to me when I asked for directions.

Maybe other members could suggest some other countries in Eastern Europe for you to meet women in. I think most of the men here have either been to Russia or the Ukraine and have been successful with the women there even though they didn't speak Russian or Ukrainian.

Some of the good places for expats to meet foreign women change over time. In the early 90s, just after the break up of the former Soviet Union, Prague was a hot and wild location for expats and the locals were friendly to them. For some reason, all that has died down now and the people in Prague seem pretty xenophobic and grumpy now.

Welcome Catameran.

Aren't you having a blast with the Dutch girls there? Why are you interested in Eastern European women? I heard the women in Holland are very open, friendly, and liberal. They ought to be very approachable right?

Have you been to the red light district in Amsterdam? If so, what were your experiences like?
