Should we move the News section to the top of the forum?

Post by Winston »

Should we put this News and Current Events section at the top of the forum, next to the General Discussions section? After all, it is the latest news, and news content is usually supposed to be at the top right?

If the purpose of this forum is to discuss visiting, working, and living abroad, then that should be your main focus.

Topics to focus on:
* Traveling abroad (vacation, backpacking, etc)
* Finding jobs that involves traveling abroad or posting abroad
* Finding jobs and business/investment opportunities in other countries
* Retiring abroad
* Living abroad
* Health care while living abroad
* Dating & relationships abroad
* VISA issues
etc.

It is. But usually the latest news board in forums is at the top right? It's just standard placement for latest news content.

Anyway, I already moved the Latest News section up to near the top.

Instead of "News and Current Events", call it "Latest International News".

Instead of "Films, Entertainment, Music", call it "International Films and Music".

The forum should encourage everyone to look at international news, watch international TV, films (subtitled), listen to international music, read books/articles written by foreign authors, etc.

I think "international" is superfluous in this case, since the topics here are already international. Besides, I prefer the word "global". It has a better feel to it. "Global" feels community-like, whereas "international" feels kind of like stretching across borders.

Maybe we can call it "Global News and Current Events"?

Also, the word "international news" can be taken to mean foreign/overseas news, since that's what it means when CNN broadcasts international news. Same with international films, which can be taken to mean "foreign films". So why not avoid the confusion and just put "films" or "latest news"? lol People already know that the content here is globally based anyway.

As is often the case, Winston, you are absolutely, almost comically wrong.

"International" sounds like"international playboy" or "international jet set".

Global evokes "globalist." It sounds corporate and is the catchword of the enemies of Man, the eunuch-Borg. It does not in the least feel like "community".

Instead of arguing with Momopi, just do what he says.

I am not wrong. If you turn on CNN and wait for their International News on CNN International, you will see that it's about foreign/overseas news. Thus that's the connotation of international, meaning non-American.

The term "globalist" is only used by conspiracy theorists. (like you) :P

In mainstream language, "global" has a positive inclusive feel to it.

Anyway, let's get back on topic.

Is it better to move the news and current events section to the top section of the forum?

Jester, why didn't you address that instead of looking for a way to nitpick me again?

It is not true that I am often wrong. Most of my statements are correct and accurate. You have no basis for saying that.

Winston my brother, I am glad you don't take offense even when I am a grouchy asshole at 3am.

Nevertheless you are SO WRONG you could start a new global positioning business to replace Tom-Tom or Google Directions. Just listen to what Winston says and DO THE OPPOSITE!

:lol:

Let me spell it out for newbies, the simple-minded... and also for Winston. NON-AMERICAN is GOOD!

Furthermore, in the business world, the term "global" is a positive expansive concept, because it means that the company is going to expand and become a global empire. lol

Gentlemen, this settles it. They have gotten to Winston. I heard the CIA has a presence is in Taiwan. Either he has been chipped, or fed to pigs and replaced by a clone.
