Spanish speaking foreign girls in the UK?

Hi. I was born in Spain but I came to London when I was 2 years old. I'm now 36 so I've been living in England for most of my life. I speak spanish, but because I live in England, my english is much better, and I think in english.

I'd like to meet someone from a spanish speaking country who speaks spanish, but also speaks english well enough for me to be able to fully communicate with her, so that I can express my personality with her. I don't like the thought of being misunderstood (ie humour, subtleties in communication, and so on).

Someone who hasn't been poisoned by english / western culture, but who is aware of it. Travelling isn't really a possibility, so what are my options? And that's my dilemma.

So where do I find spanish girls (or girls from spanish speaking countries) here?

The Spanish and italian girls of london hang out in Greenwich. Hang around the university there and also check out Belushi's on the weekends when they have the disco there. You will find lots of Spanish speaking mexicans, (euro) spanish and puerto ricans. As well as italians. Greenwich has the double of being a tourist attraction and a university environment. However they are utter scum and will treat you very badly. Some lied on a friend of mine once and almost got him placed in prison over a false rape accusation. He was a musician, she was a piece of american white trash from alabama. Thing is, he's british black, she assumed that old bill would play the card and toss him. She was shocked to see that the bill sought evidence, of which she had none. Turned out she got mad at him because he kissed (on the cheek) her sister that night. As a thank you for coming to his music event. Pretty sick but quite typical of ameriskanks. I tell my black friends to stay well away from those slags.

I live a couple of miles from Greenwich, so I'll have to check it out. Apparently Elephant & Castle (which I'm 15 mins on a train away from) has a lot of L. Americans. I kind of already knew this, but I've just been googling around and it's more extensive than I realised. I've also seen Noticias, which is a spanish language newspaper, in Lewisham library (although I haven't seen it lately), which I also live close to, so I sense a presence. Greenwich university, I'll have to look into that. I'd feel a bit weird just hanging around though.

The Latin American community of London is usually a bit less visible than others, for two simple reasons, neither of which is particularly pleasant: 1) most Latino immigrants work two jobs and have little time to join the London glamour, and 2) they usually stick to their peers, which means they won't speak decent English unless they have been living here for 5+ years. This though doesn't mean you won't be able to find and mingle with them. Most of them love to be proud of their identity , so any - and I mean any - evening/night event that showcases something of their home culture and is reasonably priced will probably attract a good number of Latino women. The ideal melting pot for the London community used to be Carnaval Del Pueblo, held in Burgess Park (near Elephant & Castle) until 2010. I say "used to" because the event was cancelled both last year and this year. To make things worse, the organisers went into administration, so the whole concept might be in jeopardy for the next few years.

Another way to meet Latin girls is quite simple. You might think I'm crazy, but it works! You probably know that most corporate buildings have facility management teams staffed with people from a single country, to ensure they can speak one another and work more efficiently. In at least 3 of the workplaces I've worked in, I found that most of the facility people (cleaning, canteen chefs etc.) employed where from Latin American. When I was working at a Regus office near London Bridge, all the cleaners and janitors were Colombian. At BNP Paribas, again, all Colombians, albeit mostly men. If you, or somebody you know, have ever pulled a late working evening, met the cleaners and noticed they're from Latin America, it's not a bad idea to approach the girl with any excuse and strike a random conversation. The girl will be probably doing a menial job and will be able to follow your conversation and get familiar with you. If you know somebody who can be in such a situation, ask him to find out where the cleaners are from and get your friend to let you in. When I was at the Regus office, working for a company from Singapore (with HQ in the Philippines, nonetheless!), I met two really cute cleaners from Colombia. One was from Barranquilla and basically, kid you not, a Jennifer Lopez lookalike. Too bad I was already committed to my "other" Colombiana (now wife) and my conversations were little more than friendly attempts to share details about me and Monica. Not the best way to flirt with a Latinita...

About university students from Latin America. By all means try, but beware: most young women (18-24) from Colombia, Venezuela, Chile, Argentina, Cuba etc. you will find in London universities are usually daughters to the few wealthy and upper class families who can afford sending them to study abroad for a year (or more). From what I remember from my times as a postgrad student crashing party after party, some of them tend to be OK, but many others are a bit too much of the spoiled princess kind. Better mingle with postgrad and Phd students, if you manage to find them. I could tell you UCL and Imperial College are quite popular with the crème de la crème of Latin Americans- UCL for business, computer science, law and economics, and Imperial for engineering, medicine, and MBAs.
