Not really. For most of human civilization, practically every human society there ever was believed the earth was round like a circle and flat. They knew you couldn't fall off the edge. So it isn't a loony theory. It is just one that is surrounded by great controversy.
People who believe in the Flat Earth get more slack than people who believe aliens seeded life on planet earth. There is something really different about this loony theory. Any other loony theory gets ignored, except for this one. It is perfectly plausible because, like I said, for at least 5,500 years (or until within the last 500 years if you believe otherwise), people believed the earth was flat. That is what our eyes tell us.
Science asks you to disbelieve your own eyes to believe their science. You can choose to do that. I believe my eyes over their lies. Until we can each get a ride on a rocket ship, that's what I'm sticking with.
A good man is above pettiness. He is better than that.
