USA is terrible, and BMI 35 or over is not rare. Even Western European countries will show up with much better data. Women might be overweight, but not so much and they are not so many.

What is missing in your comment is a definition, what means 'fat'? (=overweight)

I live in Japan and I always hear by Japanese media and even by medical articles, that Japanese men and women are also overweight, however the definition about it is very strict.

Japanese women BMI higher than BMI 23 are considered as borderline to overweight up to BMI 25, however medical records confirm (data from the yearly free health check) that only very few Japanese have a BMI higher than BMI 30 - only 2 % of the population.

My Japanese wife has a BMI of 25, my BMI as European man is BMI 26 and we are both listed as overweight already in medical records...

To be fair, we both are not superslim, but it is true USA is really extreme - especially women of any race - you can see many females who are clearly BMI 35, or even 40 - and appear to be in seriously unhealthy condition.
