I've heard a lot of good things about Mexico, its a country I'd definately consider moving to. However, I haven't heard or seen much info on the best Mexican cities for expats. I'm looking for a city thats 70F(20C) year round, low crime rate, stable economy and a friendly population. Any suggestions?

I'm looking for a city thats 70F(20C) year round, low crime rate, stable economy and a friendly population. Any suggestions?

It depends on your tastes and preferences. Most Mexican towns and cities would have a "low crime rate, stable economy and a friendly population." There are many great cities in Mexico with large American expat communities, such as the following.

Highly recommended if you want to experience the "heart" of Mexican culture:
- Mazatlán: Coastal city that has produced plenty of famous actors and musicians. Excellent for surfing.
- Oaxaca City: I would definitely recommend taking a look at Oaxaca City. It's got a certain charm that attracts tourists from all over the world, although strangely enough, there aren't many American tourists in Oaxaca City (they tend to gravitate towards the party-type beach resort towns rather than culturally interesting places, not surprisingly). Many residents speak indigenous languages. The fiestas and holiday celebrations here are exceptional.
- San Cristóbal de las Casas: Situated in a Tzotzil-speaking area in Chiapas of southern Mexico. Cool highland climate, very picturesque. Many residents speak indigenous languages.

Some others:
- San Miguel de Allende: Colonial-style town with a large American expat community.
- Acapulco: Famous beach town that used to be connected to Manila via a galleon trade network. Many Afro-Mexicans also live in the Acapulco area.
- Puerto Vallarta
- Chapala: Peaceful lake-side tourist town.

Big cities:
- Guadalajara: Where mariachi originated.
- Monterrey

The cities I listed above all have large expat ("gringo") communities. All are wonderful places for American expats. But if you were to tell me to pick just one city for you, I'd probably choose Oaxaca City.
